KA-NIX

The Karlsruhe Neutral Internet Exchange (KA-NIX) is operated by Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), Studenten für freie Netze (StuFFNet) and Verein zur Förderung freier Netze Region Mittlerer Oberrhein e.V. (VZFFNRMO).

The goal of KA-NIX is to offer a smart plattform helping to keep traffic local and is run as a neutral and not-for-profit exchange.

Policy

KA-NIX is open to any ISP/network operator. Requirement is a unique AS-number.

• BGP4 only
• public ASN only, private ASN are not allowed
• Set NEXT_HOP to your peering lan IP
• do not interfere traffic of other participants
• no static routing
• broadcast traffic is only allowed if technically necessary
• participants keep their peering db information up to date especially contact information

Connect

1. Contact noc@vzffnrmo.de. We will give you information about the currently available POPs and how to connect.
2. Build physical connection.
3. We will give you IP addresses and perform initial configuration checks with you. If everything passes we let join you the IX and configure your BGP sessions with the route servers.
4. Keep peering.

We have 1G and 10G ports.
